The best example I can give for Integrating and Applying into my everyday, outside of school life would have to be my art. It gave me a different view on the little details as well as motivated me to work harder. There was a rule at my house that I had to have all my homework and chores done before I could even pick up a paintbrush., therefore resulting in a lack of procrastination.

I took a woodworking class for a quarter, and it has been so useful. I was told by my dad if I wanted to have Power tools I needed to go threw a class first, so I did. What you are looking at is a rabbit cage I built for my Aunt. It was double story and complete with a ramp and wood flooring. It was so much fun to build for her and I got re-reimbursed for the the money I spent on equipment and materials.

This year I have participated in Cottonwood High's Choir. Everyone can sing, to some extent, but I have learned so much. From enhancing my range to learning to blend. It is all fun an games, but when needed we crack down and get stuff done, we got it done. We preformed on Fox News, in various ward parties and traveled all the way to California to compete. We made it to national levels, and also go superior rating in Regional's and State.
I apply singing to my everyday life weather its singing in the car, or singing for my voice teacher. It has given me more self confidence in my everyday life and without my big group of close friends I couldn't have some this far. |

Being a part of Choir has changed my life for the better. My most memorable experience was by far giving Mickey Middleton his dying wish. Mickey was suffering of an unmentionable illness and was given about 2 years to live, he then created a bucket list. Through word of mouth, we heard that on Mikey's bucket list, one of the things listed was to have a Madrigals group sing to him. We contacted his mother, and arranged a Sunday Night to come and grant that wish to him. As a Madrigals group we had just finished up the Christmas Season, and didn't have very many songs "Performance Ready", but Mickey was okay with that because Christmas was his favorite time of the year.
Upon arriving to Mickey's house, it had started to snow. 23 choir students, a keyboard, and a choir teacher crammed into him little living room as Mikey's closest friends and family sat around in mourning. Mikey came into the living room, and none of us really knew what to expect. Mickey was a 41 year old man, hunched over in a wheelchair, wheezing for air. He apologized, and informed us the tumors on his ribs were growing. His mother also let us know that he may want to go back to him room and lay down, for it hurt for him to sit very long, but that he would still be able to hear us.
We started off by singing some strange renditions of famous Christmas songs, getting a few grins out of Mickey. But after about 3 songs he asked to be wheeled back to his room. He left promptly and we sang the last piece we had prepared for him, In the Silence- Jacob Narverund, and I don't think we will ever sing that song the same again.
2 Weeks passed and we soon found out that Mikey had passed away, and we were all devastated. We got our wish though, his mother invited us to come and sing at his funeral, giving us a chance to say goodbye.

In Memory of Michael Middleton July 15, 1974 - February 13, 2016
A wise snowman once said, "Love is putting someone else's needs before yours." Mikey's life evinced that sentiment.
Mikey was born in Salt Lake City on July 15, 1974 to Gary and Lucinda Middleton. He died from cancer on February 13, 2016, in his home, also in Salt Lake City.
He graduated with honors from Olympus High School in 1992. The following year, he attended Brigham Young University on a full-ride scholarship. He then served a two year mission in Belfast, Ireland. After his mission, Mikey left his education to take care of his father, who had Multiple Sclerosis. He worked for Marriott for 12 years and for ARUP for four. Eventually, he returned to school, graduating with a B.A. in English, summa cum laude from the University of Utah in 2012.
Mikey was an ardent reader and a fulgent writer. He also enjoyed art, films, gaming, gardening and dancing. He was a foodie. He could taste a dish in a restaurant, pick out the main ingredients, and simulate it at home. He liked to experiment with recipes, and, with the exception of the watermelon casserole, was ingenious with his combination of flavors. He loved everything Disney, and, thanks to the generosity of friends and family, was able to visit both Disneyworld and Disneyland after he was diagnosed with cancer and before he died.
Mikey is survived by his mother, Lucinda (Van) Davis; his sister, Tiffani (Ryan) Robison; his sister, LeiLoni Middleton; and his brother, Kevin Middleton. His welcoming committee on the other side included his father, Gary Middleton; his grandfather, Herbert Middleton; his grandmother, Violet Muriel (Rendell) Middleton; and his grandfather, John Sakota.
Services will be held on Friday, February 19th at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, located at 3401 Highland Drive. A viewing will be held from 9:00-10:45 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service.
